Maintenance Mechanic
Reports To: Plant Manager
Location: Hopewell, VA
Role: Hourly
Pay: Starting rate of pay is $28.45 per hour.
Provide general plant maintenance and repairs at the Hopewell, VA Alum and Lime Slurry Plant. The maintenance mechanic performs preventive maintenance and keeps equipment in operating condition. The primary focus is on rotating equipment. This includes but is not limited to rebuild, repair, and installation of pumps, bucket elevators, screw conveyors, motors, drives, and other rotating equipment found with-in the facility. The work schedule is a day shift, with on call as required.
Perform non-certified welding, cutting, and burning.
Perform pump, gearbox, and motor repair.
Perform mechanical power transmission coupling and sheave alignment.
Do process and utility piping except for lines requiring welding certification.
Change out electric motors in kind.
Perform basic electrical and wiring jobs.
Change out fuses and motor controls.
Perform calibration of plant measuring and test equipment with the use of measuring and test calibration equipment.
Basic building facilities, buildings and grounds maintenance.
Inform maintenance supervisor of need to order parts through inventory management.
Complete all work instructions and forms relating to maintenance, safety, and preventive maintenance; keep paperwork neat.
Maintain identification and traceability of plant measuring and test equipment.
Work hours as assigned; be available for emergency repairs when needed.
Report any non-conformance issues in operations and make recommendations for corrective and preventive actions.
Other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent
Must be skilled in one or more maintenance trades including basic electrical, instrument, piping, and mechanical by ability, experience or training
Heavy equipment operation.
Forklift Training/Experience preferred
Must possess excellent customer service skills, verbal and written communication skills and computer knowledge
Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with a minimum of supervision, is highly motivated, energetic, and enjoys working as part of a team

Employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee is regularly required to climb stairs/ladders (including vertical)
Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision.
Must be physically capable of spending long hours sitting in an office environment or working in the outdoor weather.
Must be "fit for duty".
Must be able to perform under the following conditions:
Work in awkward or confining workspaces.
Work in elevated places.
Work in outdoor environment.
Work in noisy environment.
Work in areas that are dusty and have some odor from chemicals.
Safety is a job requirement.
Able to work in Adverse Weather Conditions.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
