Mental Health Technician, Full time - Nights

John Randolph Medical Center, a community hospital serving Virginia's Hopewell, Colonial Heights, Petersburg and surrounding communities since 1915 is actively recruiting a Mental Health Technician to serve our 40 bed inpatient behavioral health unit.
€ Through direct care, observation, and communication with the patient. collects and documents patient admission and shift behavioral and physical clinical data and observations Provides appropriate information to assist RN with admission and shift RN assessments.
€ Performs vital signs, BP's and accuchecks. Provides or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living. Assists with treatments or procedures within documented level of competency.
€ Provides behavioral health care interventions utilizing the least restrictive interventions, and consistent with a culture of recovery and Trauma Informed Care
€ Provides for the safety of patients, visitors and staff. Completes routine and special safety checks
€ Actively participates in quality management activities by timely reporting of staff, family, visitor or quality concerns.
€ Assumes responsibility for reviewing all work related communications and takes the initiative to seek clarification when needed
€ Reports to work as pre-scheduled and on time
€ Facilitates and/or assists with patient community, education or activity groups. Documents patient's participation.
€ Assists with clerical duties as assigned.
€ Demonstrates knowledge of, and follows policy/procedure, for all hospital patient safety initiatives.
€ Provides safe Transport for patients to and from Behavioral Health Services for any necessary diagnostic test that may be required for their care
Previous, successful student or employment experience in an adult, geriatric, or child/adolescent behavioral health setting or a related human service, military, or law enforcement setting.
A High School Diploma or Equivalent
A bachelor's degree or college course in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth & development is preferred
CNA licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
